August 19: : Lyn Turknett serves as a panelist at the 2008 August SHRM-Atlanta & Emory University Power Breakfast Workshop. Fellow panelists are Bob Knight, Manager of Learning and Developing Solutions at CISCO, and Donald Steven Lee, Director of Training, Safety, and Organizational Development at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport. They discuss the ways in which individual contributors who excel at their jobs are tapped for management positions. They explore elements necessary for a smooth transition, including the role of the manager in developing high potential employees for the organization’s succession planning effort and identification of skill and knowledge gaps that can be resolved with developmental action plans. The workshop takes place on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Emory Conference Center’s Silverbell Pavilion at 1615 Clifton Rd., Atlanta, GA. June 19:  Turknett Leadership Group supports the Annual American Institute for Managing Diversity Leadership Breakfast.  The American Institute for Managing Diversity, Inc. in partnership with The Atlanta Urban League Presents The 2008 AIMD Leadership Breakfast.  A forum for dialogue on topical diversity issues that advance Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream of the Beloved Community.  The main topic is Diversity: The American Experiment.  By using the political diversity issues that have arisen during this unprecedented political season, speakers will examine the challenges and opportunities presented by America’s experiment with diversity.  Featuring

June 17: Turknett Leadership Group's Susan B.Hitcock will moderate the "Encouraging Involvement in Professional Organizations" panel discussion, hosted by UPS' Women's Leadership Development: Business Connections Committee. Topics such as: choosing a professional organization that's right for you, maximizing your professional involvement, and leadership qualities for board membership will be discussed among prestigious panelist including Peggy Gardner- Customer Communications Director of UPS, Jeff Halter - Program Manager for Coca-Cola, James Harris- Attorney for UPS, and Thu A Nguyen- CRPC from Ameriprise Financial. The panel will take place from 8:30 to 10:30 am at the UPS Corporate Headquarter's Founders Auditorium. There will be an organizational fair from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the atrium also.
