3/30/11:Dr. Randy Lucius is chairing a symposium titled "Succession Planning: Innovations and Best Practices" at the 2011 Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology conference in Chicago on April 14. Presenters will discuss a survey of best practices from 30+ organizations, real world challenges and solutions, and how to leverage technology to support talent and succession planning.

3/25/11: In honor of Women's History Month and Turknett's spectacular March WIL speaker, Kathy Betty, Turknett launched their first Bring a Guest FREE event. There was a fantastic turnout and Kathy led WIL members and their guests through a passionate discussion of, “ Women & Girls: Bringing Our Best Game.” Kathy shared her personal ups and downs, the decision to buy The Dream, and the role of sports in developing young girls into healthy, confident women who are ready to lead in business and in life. Kathy is a prominent Atlanta business woman, sports advocate, and widow of the former EarthLink CEO, Garry Betty. She is the first woman in Atlanta history to own a professional sports team. 3/23/11: Dr. Randy Lucius and Dr. Liz Roling led a workshop titled “Cascading Character throughout the Organization” at The Georgia Center for Nonprofit's CEO University. In the session, nonprofit leaders learned about the importance of their own character as leaders and were led through a number of developmental exercises. Methods for creating a culture of character throughout an organization were also presented.

3/22/11: Dr. Lauren Harris and Dr. Randy Lucius partnered with the University of Georgia's Industrial and Organizational Psychology Program, represented by Rebecca Eckert, to host an HR Challenges Information Session. They presented results from a comprehensive survey of HR leaders in the Atlanta community and facilitated a discussion around solutions and strategies for the future. Topics such as Identification of High Potentials, Succession Planning, and Performance Management were discussed.

3/14/11: Dr. Liz Roling and Susan Hitchcock were guests on Heel to Heel Radio, a weekly radio show focused on women in business and leadership. Liz and Susan shared a blend of research and experience, sharing ways that women can bolster their own success. They also recommended initiatives and programs for organizations interested in achieving greater gender balance in higher level positions. Additionally, Liz's research on the benefits of internal women's networks (i.e., women's affinity groups) was discussed. 3/5/11: Lyn and Bob Turknett served as honorary chairs of the annual Partnership Against Domestic Violence Hearts with Hope Gala for 2011. The event was held on March 5 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. Cammie and John Rice, PADV Board Member and Vice Chair of GE, respectively, received the 2011 Hope Award at the event. The event raised nearly half a million dollars in a celebration of hope! 11/18/10: Susan Hitchcock and Carolyn (Lyn) Turknett each authored a chapter in the first book published by Women in Technology. The book, CLIMB: Leading Women In Technology Share Their Journeys To Success, was co-edited by Sandra (Sandy) Hofmann, board member of Turknett Leadership Group (TLG) and former COO of TLG. The chapter by Susan Hitchcock is entitled "Reflections: Lessons from My Life & Career" and the chapter by Lyn Turknett is entitled "Lessons From My Momma." 5/1/10: Dr. Lauren Harris was selected to serve on the Board of Directors for Jewish Family & Career Services. Along with her Board commitment, she volunteers weekly with the agency's art therapists to help facilitate an open studio art group at the Jewish Tower.

4/4/10: Dr. Lauren Harris was featured in the Sunday Business Section of the Atlanta Journal Constitution on how understanding generations is key to motivation. JA Fellows was developed by Junior Achievement of GA in 2006 and is the premiere program for high school students seeking to get a head start in the world of business and entrepreneurship.

5/2/08: Turknett Consultant in Abu Dhabi Dr. Barbara Reilly, senior leadership consultant with Turknett Leadership Group and management professor at Georgia State University (GSU), will teach in Abu Dhabi during the month of May, 2008. As part of an exchange program with the United Arab Emirate University, Dr. Reilly will be the first female professor GSU has ever sent. She will teach "Oganization Development and Change" to a group of male and female MBA students. Interestingly, while the class includes both genders, the students must be segregated in the classroom and must stop periodically to pray. To track her unique experiences with this special class, Dr. Reilly plans to keep a personal journal and share highlights upon her return.

4/08: Susan Hitchcock, VP Client Services and Executive Director – Turknett Leadership Group was recently recognized as a nominee for Mentor of the Year at a special program on April 15, 2008 hosted by Pathbuilders, Inc. (www.pathbuilders.com). Pathbuilders is an Atlanta-based organization specializing in mentoring programs for high-performance women in a variety of industries.  Ms. Hitchcock has been a mentor for the past two years in the Achieva Program for mid-level managers and professionals with senior executive potential.

4/08: Atlanta Woman Magazine nominates Conchita Robinson for their prestigious Woman of The Year Award. Conchita Robinson, founder and CEO of C Robinson Associates, Inc. is also the third principle of Jacksonville, FL based Turknett Robinson Group, an executive management consulting firm formed by Robinson and Turknett Leadership Group's Dr. Robert Turknett and Lyn Turknett. Featured on page 56 of the April 2008 issue of Atlanta Woman Magazine, Robinson discusses her path of rising through the ranks at IBM to now running her own management consulting firms. Robinson is a "true blue entrepreneur" and Turknett Leadership Group would like to formally congratulate her on her accomplishments and nomination.

CIOs, understandably pressed for time and weary of pushy vendors, like to gather in places where they can learn, network with each other and clearly understand how companies are solving their problems. At last night’s Georgia CIO Leadership Association event, Sandy Hofmann (Turknett Leadership Group) and Cindy Cheatham (ATDC) hosted a forum in which the pain points of CIOs were addressed by some of Georgia’s brightest emerging companies. Representatives from Camrbia Security, Oversight Systems, Walking Stick Solutions, Asankya Networks, and Scientric gave succinct lessons in how their solutions solve major IT enterprise problems. Richard DeMillo (Georgia Tech College of Computing) gave an overview of how the educational technology landscape has shifted over the past 15 years, and Darryl Lemecha (ChoicePoint) spoke briefly about the importance of encouraging CIOs to buy from local providers when possible in order to grow Georgia’s economy. 10/05: Dr. Robert Turknett and Lyn Turknett's book, Decent People, Decent Company, was recently made the subject of a book review by Executive Book Summaries. The review details the importance of the Turknett's Leadership Character Model, and how it relates to the integrity, respect, and responsibility of corporations as well as the individuals they employ. The review cites the actual case studies which were present in the book, in order to portray how the Turknett's model has worked in the actual business world.

9/05: Book Review: HRMagazine: Dr. Robert and Lyn Turknett's book Decent People, Decent Company was reviewed in the September issue HRMagazine, a publication of the Society for Human Resource Management(SHRM).

9/05: In the September 2005 issue of the professional development magazine Training, Dr. Robert and Lyn Turknett's book, Decent People, Decent Company, was featured in a review. The book was recommended as a "buy," and the reviewer noted that "You can bet I'm passing this one onto my colleague for sure. The focus of the book is the workplace, but the concepts are "24-hour principles" that apply to your whole life."

8/24/05: Turknett Leadership Group was cited extensively in the article "What is leadership?" on the information technology website itmatters.com. The article emphasizes the importance of leadership, and uses the Leadership Character Model as an example of the core qualities leaders need to be successful.

7/9/05:  Susan B. Hitchcock is featured in the Business Section of the Leaf-Chronicle, Cleveland, Tennessee's local newspaper.  Susan addressed the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce Women in Business luncheon on Wednesday, July 13th, 2005.

5/05: "Parenting Skills That Spill Over into the Work Place" is the title of the article published in the Gannett News Service quoting Lyn Turknett.  Lyn concurs with the author that the skills a mother uses: consensus-building, recognition and reward, negotiation, planning, organization, collaboration and helping others reach their potential are all replicable and helpful at work.

5/22/05: Andrea James of the Mobile Register interviews Lyn Turknett about a recent code of ethics survey at EnergySouth Inc. Very negative responses from employees prompted the board to schedule mandatory meetings to look in to the matter.  Lyn points out that there are ways to deal with this issue that can mitigate the situation.

04/05: The front page of his month's issue of North Atlanta's Business Post contains an article and photo of Dr. Robert and Lyn Turknett. Winners of the recent Leadership Character Awards who reside in Fulton County. Bill Williams VP, BellSouth and MAPICS were featured as having each been honored at the February ceremony for outstanding leadership and organization character.
