11/19/07: Turknett Leadership Group Celebrating 20 Years of Success. Turknett Leadership Group is recognized nationally for its commitment to character-based leadership and the creation of the Leadership Character Model, a leadership guide which places character as the foundation for effective leadership and professional development. The firm celebrated its twentieth year anniversary in 2007. A special reception was held at the Buckhead Club in on November 19, 2007 to commemorate the occasion. 8/24/07:  “Finding and Funding the Next Big Thing: More Women Needed” – featuring Kathy Harris, Senior Vice President, Noro-Moseley.  One of only 800 females venture capitalists in the country and only a handful in the Southeast, Ms. Harris  - a 2006 Atlanta “DIVA” - has definitely succeeded in a “man’s world.”  A CPA by training, she focuses on finding early expansion and growth stage companies in healthcare services and technology industries.  A self-described “political junkie,” she’s also interested in improving the lives of women around the world and serves on the Women’s Leadership Bd. at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

8/23/07: Turknett Leadership Group, a sponsor of the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta Cole Society luncheon with Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole. Turknett Leadership Group was a sponsor of the United Way Cole Society luncheon on Thursday, August 23.  More than 200 were in attendance at the Atlanta History Center’s Grand Overlook ballroom. Milton J. Little, Jr., president of United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta, introduced Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole, who shared insights on the meaning and importance of civic engagement across gender lines, and at the tea, addressed fellow “sister members” of the United Way Cole Society by giving a call to action advocating leadership among women in our community.  Dr. Cole, for whom the United Way Cole society is named and who helped push women’s leadership at United Way, was the first African American female president of Spelman College in Atlanta.  Bob and Lyn Turknett were past co-chairs of the United Way Cole Society.

5/18/07: The Georgia Psychological Association's Annual Meeting will include a presentation by Turknett founders, Robert and Carolyn Turknett entitled, Working with Executive Clients: Developing Leadership and Lives. The Turknett's will discuss how the Leadership Character Model and Leadership to the Fifth Level can accelerate growth in leadership and personal development.

5/11/07: VP Susan Hitchcock delivered a leadership workshop at the "Just us G.A.L.S. Conference" sponsored by Gwen Keyes Fleming, DeKalb District Attorney. Attendees were selected from an essay contest open to all DeKalb middle school girls. Six students from each school were invited to attend the conference which focused on leadership, goal-setting, building healthy relationships, and combating peer pressure. Read more about this event and workshop.

5/5/07: Turknett is pleased to again be a sponsor of the TechBridge Digital Ball to be held Saturday, May 5th, 2007, from 6:30pm to Midnight at The Georgia World Congress Center. TechBridge's Digital Ball celebrates the spirit of philanthropy in the technology community. 4/18/07: Attracting, Retaining, and Developing Your Staff is the topic for a panel of experts at the Georgia Center for Non-Profits. 4/11/07: CEO Central includes a presentation by Bob and Lyn Turknett, CEO and President of TLG entitled, “When No One is Looking.” Using personal stories from those who have grappled with and triumphed over workplace character issues, Bob and Lyn will discuss how building leadership character helps to create an organization in which all participants are aware of their contributions and are willing to challenge the ethics of any action. CEO Central is a multi-tiered, multi-partner program that addresses the unique needs of nonprofit executives.

12/6/06: Bob Turknett participated in the graduation program of the Leadership Development U graduation by being part of a panel discussion for the graduates. Leadership Development U is a program developed by Conchita Robinson of C Robinson Associates.

11/8/06: Women in Technology (WIT) taps Bob and Lyn Turknett to conclude this year's series on Authentic Leadership. Their topic, "When no one is looking" will include stores from personal and work experience. They will be signing their book, Decent People, Decent Company, immediately following the meeting. 8/7/06: EVP and COO, Sandra Hofmann will address the August meeting of the Project Management Institute. Her topic is "Do It, Do It Right, Do It Right Now: the struggles of character: So you have your certification in project management and know how to manage projects, but are you still trying to understand why some people are such a challenge to deal with and also how to juggle it all?"

8/14/06: Associates from Turknett Leadership Group to present at 2006 Academy of Management Meeting. The annual meeting will be held this year in Atlanta, GA. The symposium, “Using Constructive Developmental Theory to Advance Executive Development” is based on research and practical application of the theory, which has been incorporated into Turknett's services since 2003. 6/13/06: Sandra Hofmann, Turknett COO and EVP, will be the moderator for the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG)'s 3rd Annuual CIO Roundtable discussion. IT executives will discuss their recent accomplishments and future challenges pertaining to communications in their organizations.

5/17/2006: Bob Turknett will be honored with the first Entrepreneurial Leadership Award from Jacksonville University. Dr. Turknett graduated from JU in 1964. More information about this event can be found here.

4/28/06: Executive Briefing: Leading in a Flat World: Strategies for Maximizing Cultural Differences by Dr. Chris McCusker. Globalization, off shoring, and diverse work forces increase the need for cross-cultural competence. Differences between people can be an asset or a liability for organizations. Differences can be a source of negative emotions and destructive conflict or a source of learning and value. The impact on performance will depend on how well they are managed.

4/14/06: Executive Briefing: Developing Technical Leaders: The Challenge and the Pay-Off by Dr. Chris McCusker and Sandra Hofmann. In today’s techno-centric business environment, highly trained, technical professionals are rapidly moving into the role of manager and leader. They are often the right people for the job from a knowledge perspective, but not necessarily from a leadership perspective.

9/14/05: Bob and Lyn Turknett will present highlights from their book Decent People, Decent Company to fifty managers from BellSouth Small Business at Evergreen Conference Center in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

9/1/05: Lyn Turknett was the keynote speaker for the Paulding County Chamber of Commerce's United Way Kick Off meeting.  Lyn shared stories from Decent People, Decent Company with the group and related them to United Way efforts.

6/8/05: The WINGS Program of Women's Legacy of the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta has chosen the Turknett's book, Decent People, Decent Company as part of their leadership training program this year.  Bob and Lyn will lead a discussion with members all of whom have had the opportunity to read the book.  The goal of WINGS is to empower up-and-coming women to become philanthropists and future leaders in the community.

5/12/05: Decent People, Decent Company was the subject of Bob Turknett's presentation to Lead Atlanta at Sugarloaf Country Club.  Lead Atlanta is an organization that seeks to equip today's leaders for tomorrow's challenges.

4/28/05:  The Capital City Club in Atlanta invited Bob and Lyn Turknett to speak as part of their monthly Series on Leadership.  Relating client stories from their over 20 years in business, Bob and Lyn gave examples of the five levels of leadership.  Attendees were also introduced to the Leadership Character Model and their new book, Decent People, Decent Company.

4/14/05: Turner Entertainment Group included Lyn Turknett as a panelist at their "Think About It!" forum that is broadcast to 2000 Turner employees throughout the Turner Campus.  Other panelists included 3 other authors: Connie Glaser, Dr. Kathleen Hall, and Tory Johnson.

3/16/05: Bob and Lyn Turknett deliver a book review of their new book, Decent People, Decent Company at the 75 Diner at Shallowford Presbyterian Church.

3/05: Carolyn (Lyn) Turknett has been nominated for two Awards this month.  NAWBO, the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners will honor her and other nominees at their Annual WE Awards in April.  She is also nominated for the Atlanta Chamber's Small Business Person of the Year.

2/22/2005: "Career Management: If I knew Then What I Know Now" - Susan Hitchcock speaks at the BellSouth Operator Services Leadership Conference in Atlanta - Managing one's career: an art or a science? Elements of both seem to exist along with a little luck and serendipity. This energizing and enlightening session focuses on some of the "real world" insights and lessons learned from hundreds of business leaders as well as the personal experience of a successful woman in leadership - and one who has made major career transitions. Managers at all levels and at various stages of their careers can benefit from this "one size doesn't fit all" discussion. The impact could change how managers think about their careers.

2/15/2005: "Women's Leadership: The Business Case" - Susan Hitchcock speaks to the Sugarloaf Professional Women's Association - The need for women's perspective at the leadership table has never been so strong. It may be debatable whether or not parity with men is ever achieved in business, government, or other areas of influence, but the positive impact of diverse views and styles of leadership is not.
