List / USA / INC Magazine; President, GA NAWBO Chapter; Board Member, Committee

April 16:
“Women’s Leadership: A World View” – featuring Linda Muir, Principal of The Muir Law Firm, LLC; President of
Project Tsunami, Inc., a global accelerator for women’s entrepreneurship;
Co-founder and concept creator / former Board member for the Women’s Leadership
Board at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. This program will
also include an update on the status of women in business in the USA.
+May 14 / SPECIAL EVENT:
“Women Don’t Ask: Negotiation and the Gender Divide” featuring the
author, Linda Babcock, Professor at Carnegie Mellon University; a
transformational book which is sweeping the country with its message to women
about what’s keeping them from promoting their own interests and getting more
of what they want. An OPEN FORUM for
members and guests of the Women in Leadership Series.
June 18:
“Intergenerational Leadership:
Mentoring the Next Generation ”
featuring Pam Sessions, President – Hedgewood Properties; Former President of
the Georgia Homebuilders’ Association; Nationally recognized expert and speaker
on environmental design. This UNIQUE
program will provide an opportunity for each WIL participant to invite a
younger woman or girl (high school or college students) to the event. A pre-seminar survey will be conducted to
gather views on several career and “working women” issues.
July 16: “Creating a Legacy through Sound Business
Practices and Happy People”
featuring Sandy Hofmann, CIO and Chief People Officer at MAPICS; Nationally
recognized expert in her field and sought-after speaker; 2003 Georgia Regional
CIO of the Year; 2003 Top Five Women in Technology.
August 18:
“Swimming in Uncharted Water: Career Changes & Other Transitions” – featuring Kim Shreckengost, EVP
Operations – AMB Group, LLC; former VP – Corporate Affairs for The Home Depot
and Assistant to the CEO; Mylle Mangum, CEO, International Banking
Technologies; first president, BellSouth International; former CEO True

15 (or 24th): “Trailblazers: Women Who’ve Led the Way in Business
and Community Service” - Panelists: Paula Lawton Bevington, VP of Development,
The Marcus Institute, formerly with SciTrek; former co-owner, Servidyne Corp;
first female president of Atlanta Rotary; Attorney and former member of the
Peace Corps staff. Mary Ellen Garrett,
First VP Investments, The Garrett Group, Merrill Lynch Private Client Group;
Board Chair, Atlanta Girls School; Founding member of United Way’s Women’s
Legacy Initiative; one of the top women in her industry and mother of
three. (Exact date will be confirmed.)
October 15: “Career
Advancement: A Male Perspective”
– This program is designed to feature two or three male executives recognized
for being instrumental in women’s careers.
An opportunity for open dialogue about maximizing the balance of
leadership in today’s organizations.
WIL participants may make recommendations.
November
19: “Best Companies To Work For: What Makes them Special” –Two high level women
panelists will share the “inside story” on what’s going on in their
organizations to create great places to work for everyone, especially
women.
December 10: “A Conversation with Bob and Lyn Turknett, Authors of Decent
People, Decent Company” – Robert Turknett, Ed.D. and Carolyn Turknett, MS in
Sociology, CEO and President of Turknett Leadership Group share leadership
insights and lessons in leadership character from their recently published
book. Seminar participants share their
own views of leadership character in the workplace.
