January 23: “Executive Success: What Men Aren’t Telling You” – featuring Jeffery Tobias Halter – Passionate advocate for women’s leadership, keynote speaker, and author of “Selling to Men, Selling to Women.” Jeffery has more than 25 years in business experience in sales, marketing, management, leadership development, and diversity education including Alberto Culver, P &G, and The Coca-Cola Co. He’s also a contributing writer for Tom Peters! and Pink Magazine; a Business Advisory Board member for Simmons College; and a member of the National Society for Diversity in Sales and Marketing. February 20: “Leading in Technology and in Life ” – featuring Marianne Johnson, SVP of Global Technology New Product Innovation at Equifax. Marianne was selected as the 2008 Woman of the Year (Enterprise Div.) by Women in Technology (WIT). Her many achievements have been highlighted in The NY Times, CNNMoney.com, TechLinks, etc. Prior to Equifax, her career path included various positions in the healthcare industry. Currently, she is very active in WIT, TAG, HFMA, & GlobalEXECWomen. Also known for her community service, she’s been a United Way Ambassador, sponsor for Food for the Poor, and a Big Brother Big Sister volunteer. March 27: “Sisters Together: One for All, All for One” - featuring Stephanie Davis, Policy Advisor on Women’s Issues, Office of the Mayor and Exec. Dir. of GA’s Women’s Policy Group. A tireless and selfless advocate for women and girls in the Atlanta community, Stephanie is perhaps best known as the founder and “inspiritor” of the Atlanta Women’s Foundation (AWF). Over an 11 year period, she helped grow AWF into a model for the rest of the country and raised millions of dollars and established an endowment. Among her other achievements: Rosalynn Carter Honorary Fellow in Women & Policy for Emory and Board member for the White House Project whose mission is to promote women’s leadership in all spheres – political, business, social, etc. Read highlights from this past seminar.
April 24: “Leadership through the Lens of Spirituality” - featuring Gary Strack former Pres. /CEO -Boca Raton Community Hospital; Ph.D. in Health Admin. and Leadership and recipient of numerous career achievement awards including “Alumnus of the Year” and “Distinguished Preceptor Award” (U. of FL). A gifted communicator, Gary was invited four times as keynote speaker at the American College of Healthcare Executives Annual Congress. In 2002 he researched and co-authored a paper on leadership and spirituality and is a life-long supporter of women’s leadership. Also a proud husband, father and grandfather, he lives at Lake Oconee - combining work, play, mentoring, and continued learning. May 22: “Balanced to Lead: East Meets West for Internal Energy and External Power” - featuring Grace Zhao, CEO of MingWellness, Inc. Born in China, she is a high-achieving wife, mother and career woman who founded her own company in 2007 for the purpose of offering businesses a new perspective on problem solving by combining Eastern sophistication with Western enthusiasm. Her expertise is helping companies improve overall performance by enhancing holistic leadership, managing stress, and promoting healthy lifestyle choices. Grace is a former corporate executive and management consultant with Fortune 100 experience in global leadership positions. She received her MBA from Syracuse University, completed the Executive Healthcare Education program at the Kellogg School of Management, and has conducted research in Traditional Chinese Medicine in graduate and doctoral cross-cultural study programs. June 19: “Mission Possible: Leadership in Environmental Sustainability” – featuring Joyce LaValle, SVP Interface America. Joyce is responsible for engaging customers and employees in the firm’s Mission Zero™: to become sustainable and reduce or eliminate its environmental footprint by 2020. A veteran in the commercial interiors industry, her career with Interface began in 1982 and includes marketing, sales, and human resources. Joyce was educated in England and the U.S., is an active member of the International Interior Design Assoc., past Board member of FIDER and IFMA, and is the founding member of the Women’s Network for a Sustainable Future (WNSF). She received the 2008 WNSF Businesswomen’s Leadership Award in Atlanta and an inaugural LEEDer award in 2007 presented by the U.S. Green Building Council in New York. July 24: “Bumps, Turns, and Open Highway: The Road to Success” – a panel featuring two of Atlanta’s top women executives, Terry Trout, VP – Customer Experience with Cbeyond and Mary Ann Green, former VP Airline Operations Systems for Delta Technology. Selected as WIT’s 2007 Woman of the Year and a “Top 25 Power Woman,” Terry has had a stellar career of more than 25 years. She founded Cbeyond’s Women’s Network and holds board positions at The Sullivan Ctr. and with WIT. Mary Ann Green is equally distinguished as a finalist for the 2008 WIT/WOTY Award, president of Delta’s Women’s Employee Network, member of the board of trustees of Girls Inc. and an active member of WIT. August 21: “The Impact of Hispanic/Latino Leadership on US Businesses” – featuring Lily Winsaft, CEO, Aldebaran Associates International – a leading executive search and consulting company focused on Hispanic and Latino talent and the changing demands of today’s economy. Her background includes 20+ years in financial services, venture capital funding, investment banking and wireless communications. She served as a senior leader in one of world’s largest staffing firms and after starting her own firm, was honored as the 2005 “Businesswoman of the Year” by the GA Hispanic C of C. Among her many board and volunteer affiliations are the Assoc. of Colombian Professionals; The Mex. – Amer. C of C; the Latin American Assoc; and GSU’s Institute of International Business. September 25: “ Challenges and Opportunies for Women at the Top” – featuring Pamela Joseph, Vice Chairman of Elavon & U.S. Bancorp Payment Services. As one of 13 senior executives, her responsibilities include all Elavon operations (Global Acquiring Solutions, Financial Services, Retail Payment Solutions, U.S. Bank Transaction Services, etc.) U.S. Bank is the largest Visa-branded gift card issuer, the 6th largest debit card provider and the 2nd largest purchasing card issuer in the U.S. A 20 year veteran of the financial services industry, Ms. Joseph also has served with Visa International and Wells Fargo Bank. Additional leadership activities include serving on the board of Paychex, Inc. and Centene Corp. as well as chairing a non profit organization called Gift of a Child which helps foster children find permanent homes. Ms. Joseph earned a bachelor’s degree in Bus. Administration at the University of Illinois.

October 23: “Educating Women To Live Honorably and To Make A Difference”- featuring Dr. Elizabeth Kiss, President of Agnes Scott College. Became ASC’s 8th president in 2006 and was the first recipient of Turknett’s Leadership Character Award in Education in 2008. Prior to ASC, Dr. Kiss was the founding director of the Kenan Institute for Ethics and an assoc. professor in political science and philosophy at Duke. Also taught at Princeton for 8 years. A former Rhodes Scholar, Dr. Kiss received her D. Philosophy from Oxford Univ. in England, has held fellowships at Harvard, the Nat’l Humanities Ctr. and at Melbourne Univ. She’s a sought after speaker on justice, human rights, and feminist theory; a trustee of Duke Univ., member of Rotary Club of Atl, and board member of SunTrust Bank and the Women’s College Coalition. November 20: “The Status of Women’s Leadership: Progress, Sticking Points, and Actions To Be Taken” – featuring Lyn Turknett, President of Turknett Leadership Group (TLG) and Susan Hitchcock, VP of TLG as presenters of the latest data and research on women’s leadership. Following the overview, Lyn and Susan will facilitate roundtable discussions on several major findings that impact all professional women. Recent research on women’s leadership development and strategic practices for women and organizations will provide fodder for discussion, e.g., McKinsey’s report on “How Talented Women Thrive,” Harvard Business Review’s “Women and the Labyrinth of Leadership, and Human Resource Planning’s “Gender’s Unspoken Role in Leadership Evaluations.” Expected outcomes will be new insights and personal commitments for each participant about what she can do to enhance her own professional status as well as her overall life. December 18: “Philanthrophy and
Leadership: Start at Home” – featuring Kevin and
Hannah Salwen. A graduate of Northwestern University, Kevin is a
writer & entrepreneur. As a reporter, columnist and editor at
the Wall Street Journal from 1981 – 2000, he covered 2 presidential
administrations and launched 2 publications. Since 2000, Kevin
co-created several media ventures, including Motto magazine, and
he serves on the board of Habitat for Humanity. Hannah is
Kevin’s 16 yr. old daughter, a student at the Atlanta Girls
School, and volunteer at the Central Night Shelter and the Food
Bank. The entire Salwen family – including wife, Joan,
a teacher at AGS, and son, Joseph, are investing their money, time
and talent to help build opportunity for people in Africa.
Kevin and Hannah have co-authored a special book, “The Power
of Half”, about their family project. Be among the first to
