Individual Leadership Development

Who needs leadership development?

If leadership is conceptualized not as something one person does but as a process any enterprise needs to move forward, then every person in that enterprise can take part in its leadership. It can be argued that everyone in an enterprise benefits from some level of leadership development.

Development requires:

Assessment

Assessments may be formal or informal. Formal assessment may include personality assessments, 360-degree feedback, interviews, or routine evaluations and performance reviews. Just as important is informal, ongoing feedback from managers and coworkers.

Challenge

Challenges can come in any form, e.g. promotions, a move to a new department, difficult projects, mergers or restructuring. Challenge can be experiences or information that goes against your beliefs, knowledge or perspectives. Situations outside of work can also present challenges and there is some evidence that women are particularly developed by outside of work experience.

Support

Support is an often-overlooked element of professional development. Support enhances confidence, affirms strengths, and guides the acquisition of skills needed to meet new challenges. When faced with tough assessments or difficult challenges, support can make the difference between an overall positive experience and one that leads to frustration or failure. The culture of the organization must support and model the desired type of leadership.

Unique Leadership Development services:

Executive Development Program(EDP): TLG’s premier Leadership Development service is the Executive Development Program (EDP). EDP is a one-on-one, confidential management and leadership development process that strengthens an executive’s ability to lead and manage in fast-growth environments. This comprehensive program includes extensive assessment of a client’s current management style, and the creation of a personalized development program supported by long-term coaching.

Leadership to the Fifth Level: Based on Constructive Developmental theory and the research of Robert Kegan and Karl Kuhnert, Senior Research Fellow at TLG, this developmental approach measures Leadership Levels or stages that leaders go through. The process helps leaders move to higher levels so that they are more adequately equipped to deal with today’s complex business environment. We also offer a Lyceum approach for groups of high potential leaders using Constructive Developmental theory as a lens for continuing development.

CEO Consulting: A program designed exclusively for Chief Executives. It includes all EDP components plus one-on-one consulting for one year and quarterly on-site status reviews.

Custom Executive Team Development: We can help you design a custom leadership development process targeted to address the needs of the team and the goals of the organization.

Emerging Leader Program: This program offers a fully integrated approach to leadership development including personal assessment, four daylong seminars, and one-on-one coaching. Program components are designed to complement one another and are most suitable for those who are emerging leaders – managers who have been identified as having high leadership potential or those who have recently entered into leadership positions.

Executive On-boarding/Integration: A unique development service designed to help assure the success of a leader joining a company or assuming new leadership responsibilities. The program is specifically tailored to help avoid the pitfalls that often derail leaders in transition.

Accelerated Leadership Development Program: A shortened version of the standard EDP to quickly help individuals grow. The program is geared for high-potential managers needing to develop certain skills, successful managers looking to enhance their abilities, and technical managers who need to enhance interpersonal and communication skills.

Coaching for Personal Change: This service is for those executives who, while being extremely talented in their field of expertise, often lack certain interpersonal attributes critical to the role of an manager or executive. Strong emphasis is placed on developing the individual’s emotional intelligence, to create a leader that excels in both people and task behaviors.

Executive Education and Team-building: Choose from a variety of seminars, workshops and team-building exercises that energize and enlighten leaders and teams.

Extended coaching is also available for graduates of any of our Executive Development Programs, with a variety of options and formats to suit your needs and budget.
